From pioneering digital radio broadcasting to becoming Asia’s first health-focused radio platform, Radyo Kalusugan continues to redefine the role of media in public service and community engagement.

The story traces back to 2016 when IBS Media launched Muews Radio 107.9 FM in Tarlac City — the city’s first 24-hour radio station. Muews Radio became a pioneer in Philippine community broadcasting by integrating traditional FM radio with simultaneous online streaming through Facebook, an innovative approach during its time.

As the media landscape evolved, Muews Radio rapidly expanded its footprint, eventually establishing more than 25 stations nationwide. During the height of the pandemic, the station adapted quickly by utilizing Zoom technology for remote broadcasting, ensuring uninterrupted communication and public engagement despite mobility restrictions.

Facing operational and industry challenges, the network later evolved into Central Luzon Balita, maintaining its commitment to timely news, public information, and regional connectivity.

In March 2021, amid the global health crisis, a new vision emerged.

Roy Bato, President of IBS Media Group, together with Dr. Allan Landrito, envisioned creating a media platform solely dedicated to health awareness, medical education, and community wellness — an initiative considered the first of its kind in Asia.

This vision gave birth to Radyo Kalusugan, officially launched through a test broadcast on DWCO 103.1 FM in Batangas powered by a 5,000-watt transmitter. Combining traditional radio with aggressive digital and social media integration, Radyo Kalusugan quickly gained recognition as Asia’s premier health-focused radio station.

By March 2022, the platform evolved beyond broadcasting and expanded into direct community service initiatives. Radyo Kalusugan began organizing free medical missions and health outreach programs that benefited thousands of Filipinos across various communities.

These humanitarian efforts were made possible through the dedication and support of individuals and partners including Mr. Fred Boyles and family, Gill Aller, Dr. Aisha dela Cruz, volunteer doctors, medical practitioners, and community advocates who shared the organization’s mission of accessible healthcare and public wellness.

Today, Radyo Kalusugan continues to strengthen its advocacy through health-centered programming, medical missions, environmental awareness initiatives, and activities focused on improving the quality of life for communities nationwide.

The evolution from Muews Radio to Radyo Kalusugan reflects more than the growth of a media organization — it represents resilience, innovation, and an enduring commitment to public service and nation-building.

As the platform moves forward, Radyo Kalusugan remains dedicated to using media not only as a source of information, but as a catalyst for healthier communities and meaningful social impact.
